How long have you worked with Sea Cadets?
I was an adult volunteer for 1 year. An adult instructor for 1 year, and the Divisional Training Officer for 1 year.
I assumed command as the Commanding Officer in August 2007.
What got you interested in Sea Cadets?
I first learned about the Sea Cadets when my oldest son joined the division. As I attended drill weekends with him, I become more interested in the Sea Cadet program. I now have 2 sons in the Hunley-Yorktown Division.
Where are you originally from?
Born and raised in Southern Illinois.
How long have you lived in Charleston?
The Navy brought me to Charleston and it has been my home for the past 25 years.
What do you do for a living?
I work for a local wireless phone company.
Please list any community activities you are evolved in.
I enjoy working with young people and have been involved as a youth leader in both the church and the Royal Rangers for the past 12 years.
Comment:
Many of our nation's youth have no idea what profession they want to pursue after high school. The Sea Cadets allow them to get a taste of the military and other maritime related occupations. So, by being a part of the Sea Cadets they are in a better position to make informed decisions about their future.
