What where the dates you attended The Naval Sea Cadet SEAL Program?
June 6-June 23, 2005
Can you tell us a little about how you prepared for the program?
Yes, I did alot of PT (physical training) like flutter kicks, push ups, pull ups, swam, crunches, and ran alot I mean ran alot every day. I changed my diet to a lots of carbs, protein, and water.
Give us a short run down on what you did each day.
Well in a way it was rather unpredictable, but you wake up do PT and run 2 miles to the obstacle course do the O-course 4 times, eat chow and run 2 miles back to the barracks. Then you have to spend several hours in a class yes even SEALs have to learn things in a classroom setting then more PT, clean the barracks, shower and rack out.
On a scale of 1- 10 how hard was it?
Physically-10 Mentally-10 you see each individual task is not that difficult but when they are performed one after another it becomes very stressful and that's when people start making mistakes.
What was the hardest thing you had to do during this program?
HELL DAY!!!! it is a non stop 18 hour day on limited food and sleep.
A person can not understand the meaning of cold, wet, tired, sandy, and hungry all at once until they have experienced this ordeal. I will never forget the log and beach PT in the sand during Hell Day!!!
What was the most exciting thing you did during this program?
The practical mission at the end of the course. You put all of your newly acquired skills to the test in a mission that is based on real world SEAL Team missions that have occurred to real SEALs Platoons in real combat situations.
Do you think you will go back the next time this program is offered?
I have already done it again, and I am going back to be an instructor this summer.
What are your future plans?
To attend college at the Citadel, attend BUD/s in Coronado, and go on to become a member of the TEAMS, the best of the best!
Do you have any advice for Cadets wanting to attend Sea Cadet SEAL training?
Yes one thing NEVER QUIT!!!! HOO-YAH!!!
Is there anything else you would like to add here?
Yes the instructors are absolutely fabulous. They have alot of experience and you can learn alot if you just pay attention and take it all in. CMDR Muros is a first rate Special Forces operator and is very thorough. He doesn't miss a thing and the active duty SEALs are awesome.
